  • Episode 1349 - Super Show Updates/Let's Talk Shop with Wild Pig Comics

I actually feel the opposite of Jamie on Cap (which is rare. Usually I'm right in step with him). I'm the only person I know who doesn't care for Brubaker's run (I'm at the point where Bucky has become Cap). I think he writes it WAY too serious, and I don't get much feel for the characters being very different, or that they have their own voice.

I think Remender's Cap run looks like a lot of fun, although I haven't read more than previews so far.

And yes, $4 for a 10-15 minute read is not a great value. I just can't see how you can get a new reader to get floppies at those prices.

    *UPDATE*

I finally read Remender's first Cap issue. I really liked it. It's a nice refreshing change, plus I enjoy Remender's dialogue a lot more than Brubaker's.
  • Sigh.... looks like I might not be reading DC Comics much longer

You're not crazy. I feel the same way. DC strories had heart and legacy. Now they are trying to be edgy in a overly desperate manner.
  • 99¢ and Discounted Comixology SALES!

Seems to me, EVERY book on Comixology either has 4-5 stars, or none.
  • I've had THREE nightmares about Supershow now...

I can barely remember the first dream. Something about things just not going well.

The second dream, I went to the wrong convention, and had to try and still make sketch sales.

Third dream was last night. I went, and forget to bring ANYTHING for my table. No sketchbooks, not banner, no sample book, NOTHING. At one point Amber was at my table. She set up a bunch of stuff for me that she was able to scrape together while I was frantically going to stores trying to find art supplies. Iamscifi was helping me find stores that were open, and had to lend me cash.

Also, a band was there, and they complained that my table was where they were all supposed to sit when they were taking a break, and I was taking up their spot.

No idea why I'm having so many stress dreams. Maybe because I have a new webcomic to show off. Maybe because I haven't been to a con in a long time, and I'm afraid I won't get any customers.

Need to just chill and look forward to seeing old friends.
  • DC Books $3.99?

It's very hard for me to justify anything over $1 an issue.
Wow! And it's been like, what? Twenty-five years since a comic cost a buck?

But I know what you mean. I find it hard to justify spending anything over a grand for a new car.

I do a lot of mass transit these days.

So I guess we can now villainize anyone hunting the 25 cent bins? Or getting $5 trades?

I've been posting here for years, never attacking anyone, having reasonable discussions. Surprised finding this attitude on the boards.

Did anyone attack Bryan in the original post for wanting 99 cent books, and thinking 2-3 dollars is a lot for a comic?

OK, I see the point. Inflation. Things get more expensive. Doesn't mean I can't hope for a more cost effective way to pursue the hobby I love.

Perhaps I came off wrong. I'm not expecting all comics to be $1 from day one, but I'd love more sales from DC, or the previously mentioned idea of a subscription service.
