Thanos Rising: Firmly in the Murd camp. Sympathetic villain backstories work for humans like of Magneto and the Batman Rogues but not for "The Mad Titan". Magneto's childhood trauma strengthens the X-men's roots in themes of prejudice and racism. Batman's tragic villains strengthen Bruce's force of will to not fall into madness, but to focus his energy towards good. Thanos is is a derivation of Thanatos, the personification of death and mortality in Greek mythology. The key word there is personification. Death and morality does not need a backstory of this nature.
Li'l Gotham: Firmly in the Shane camp. Usually enjoy these types of offbeat interpretations, but the jokes were flat as was the story
Jupiter's Legacy: Back in the Murd Camp. It wasn't ever going to live up to the Hyperbole of the solicit, but there's enough intriguing elements and I'm a Frank Quitely fanatic
What were the "tough questions" that Jamie was referring to about why DC did not set up at C2E2? I have been busy with school, so my comic news is a little behind, and I was totally lost. Thanks
And that's just the most recent and high profile mismanagement of creative talent by micromanaging editors. Then there's the usual questions about how their continuity is no better than when the new 52 started, where's Donna, Wally Cassandara Cain Stephanie Brown, and *insert your favorite DC character here*.
DC comics is a real sad place to be. Just like mid-90's Marvel. Guess who were around at both places? Jim Lee, Scott Lobdel, Rob Liefeld, Bob Harras, and Tony Daniel. Coincidence?
The Young Justice line was a mess. They did two scales at ridiculously high prices, one around the scale of JLU, the other around a Marvel Legend. The JLU fans weren't up for it as it didn't jive with the Bruce Timm designs of old. The 6" scale was packed with these giant bases that were an unnecessary addition to the cost. As for GL, there were prototypes made, however no retailer was willing to carry them as they already had a glut of GL movie merchandise haunting their aisles.
I posted this in another thread, the bungled merchandising of Young Justice and GL by Mattel killed the series. There were other merchandisers at fault as well. Where were the beach towels, the candy, the cups, all the other things Teen Titans and JLU appeared on. The most they could get was a limited McDonalds toy run.
